Promoting Community Based Sustainable Soil Management Practices for increasing Agriculture Productivity and minimizing Poverty

From the funding support of Sustainable Soil Management Programme (SSMP)/Helvetas, RMD Nepal implemented community based sustainable soil management activities to improve agriculture productivity and thereby help to reduce poverty. The project achieved following; 175 households of 19 groups initiated sustainable soil management practices resulting 5-10% decrease in Chemical fertilizer; Increased production capacity of agriculture lands by 20 Kgs per ropani by organic farming practices;175 households of Dalits and Janajatis and women organized into groups and engaged in commercial vegetable farming practices to earn Rs. 5000-Rs.10,000/-(per household) income annually; 25 members of Dalits, Janajatis and Women trained on sustainable soil management and enterprise development activities and formed of village level networking committee to share information and skills for promoting collective and collaborative agriculture service delivery mechanisms.
